The socialite stars in popular series Keeping Up with the Kardashians alongside her sisters Khloé and Kourtney and a host of other family members.
Kim is currently expecting her first child with rapper boyfriend Kanye West and is apparently keen to keep out of the limelight while she adjusts to motherhood.
To help with this, she has reportedly told her notoriously pushy manager-and-mother Kris Jenner that she needs time out from the show.
"She's feeling so drained at the moment and knows that things are only going to get harder when the baby's here," an insider explained to British magazine Star.
"It's made her realise that she won't want to be filmed as much while she gets to grips with a new baby. Kim told her mom, Kris, that she deserves maternity leave from the spotlight, just like any other job."
Kim has come under fire recently from critics who say she isn't dressing her blossoming pregnancy body in the most flattering way.
The 32-year-old is used to all the attention, but Kanye has been to known to struggle a little with all the interest in their private lives.
He is reportedly pleased that Kim is coming round to his way of thinking.
"It's a huge relief to Kanye, who is looking forward to them being a family together away from the Kardashian circus," the source continued.
