Apple called to access Pistorius' phone Containing Vital Evidence in Reeva Murder Case

Police have been forced to seek help from cellphone manufacturer Apple in the United States to gain access to murder accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius' phone, according to a report.

Pistorius could reportedly not remember the four-digit passcode needed to unlock a cellphone he was using
on the night his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was shot and killed, according to The Mail on Sunday.

The iPhone 5, along with three other phones, was found on the bathroom floor of his Pretoria home early on Valentine's Day after the shooting.
Lt-Gen Vineshkumar Moonoo, who was leading the investigation, told the publication: "Pistorius is saying he can't remember the code and we have been unable to access messages sent or received that night".

"These could be crucial and Apple executives in America have made their technicians available to help us," he said.
"I cannot say Pistorius's memory failure is suspicious but the mobile phones were clearly in use up to the time of the killing."

Pistorius's case for the alleged murder of his girlfriend was postponed to August 19.
